How’s your relationship?
Wes Fryer recently posted a “KWL on podcasting and levels of adoption and integration of podcast”, but it really applies to all technologies that you are in the process of learning. Being at different stages is a good thing and we can learn from each other.
I hope you will continue to challenge yourself to continue to learn about new, emerging technologies and how you can apply them to your classrooms and share them with colleagues.
How has the technologies we have tried changed your relationship to technology? What level do you think you are on now that the class has finished?

The technologies that we learned in this course will help me more in the classroom. I still feel a little rusty, but with practice I am sure that I will feel more comfortable with time.

I have always enjoyed technology even though I am not the best at using it. I will research items and buy great equipment and not read the manual or ever learn how to use it. This course has taught me how to use things that I was aware of, but never have the time to learn how to use. I am excited to expand my use of technology in the classroom and hopefully go beyond what we even learned in this class. I will hopefully be able to stay in touch with everyone via e-mail so that when I have questions or end up having my computer start on fire or overload someone can help me. Thanks for everything. Over and out.

I’m really happy with the stuff we’ve learned in this class! I have a lot more confidence in exploring things like blogging and rss feeds (which I didn’t know exsisted before this). I also learned a lot of great thins that I can use in my class (audacity). I think we all had a great time!!!

Honestly, this class has opened my eyes to some of the many technologies that are available out there. As I stated in my presentation I will, at the end of each unit, have my 5th grade students input the infothey have learned into the computer…as my goal is to make them comfortable using the keyboard and so they realize that the computer is not only for games but for learning also.

I feel a little more comfortable with technology now that this class is over. I am glad I learned how to set up blogs. I am still not comfortable with wikis but I think that is because I know that anyone can revise my information. I will be taking advantage of some of the technologies we have learned for my classes. My students enjoyed their experience blogging their assignments so I think I will incorporate this into my classes.

I have always enjoyed technology and all the opportunities it gives to me in opening up my world to many posssibilities. That part is so exciting and with endless possibilities. BUT, there are unfortunately barriers that are placed on educators such as; money, time, opportunity, awareness and inservicing to give us the knowledge/application. I feel that this class was valuable in exposing me to some of those possiblilities. I feel I have grown in feeling more comfortable using blogs, RSS, and becoming more aware of many resources from the class . The demonstrations were great and gave me alot of ideas. I would like to continue learning more about technology and how to efectively use it for my classroom.
—-Thanks for sharing!! See most of you in two weeks. Perhaps another BLUE MOON!!!! Nora

The number of topics introduced was almost overwhelming, but served as a great introduction to all those great features out there on the web. Although I have always felt comfortable and been familiar with technology, I can see where my generation can quickly fall behind given the increasingly rapid changes out there. Most of us probably have little time or patience for blogs or maintaining MySpace sites, but the younger generation does and feels totally in sync with what is available today. This may put them at an advantage, but can pose problems down the road when the virtual world gets confused with, and sometimes replaces, the “real world”, which for our younger students, may be one and the same..
…don’t forget to shut down that PC and go out and play!

I have enjoyed this class. I truly became aware of the many more technology sources out there. I now know many of the terminologies as well such as blogging, collaborating, wikis, podcast, and many more. Audacity and smart board was a lot of fun and is what I would mostly likely carry over into my teaching as wI work with primary grades. Blogging may be considered as well instead of just using paper and pencil to respond to questions.
Our students should be made more aware of using technology as it is going to continue increasing in our future. United Streaming is another wonderful feature. Thanks to the many websites everyone offered. They sure will come in handy. The presentations will certainly creative and gave many ideas.
Thanks again everyone!!

I love audacity. I downloaded it to my laptop and am almost ready to start recording some of the stories in the 6th grade literature book. I just need to buy a microphone first. I plan to record the stories at a slower reading rate to accomodate ESL and LS students. I also plan to set up a class blog for myt students to respond to. I will try to set this up and have it ready to go before the end of the school year. I think the blog is a great activity for the students to use while at the computer learning center during our classroom centers. I feel a little overwhelmed by trying to find enough time to create and then model how to use the technology so my students will be able to use it.

I have learned a lot of important information regarding technology. There are so many programs out there I was not aware of! I now know how to use them in my classroom to enhance the learning of my students. I feel more confident with the different forms and I am willing to try them in my classroom. If the different forms work well, I will be willing to share what I have learned with colleagues.
There are many forms I will be using in the classroom. Using the audacity program will help my students practice their pronunciation in Spanish. The blogging will help them write in the target language with their peers. The smart board will target all of my learners through hands-on activities. Bookmarking websites will be a great anchor activities for my students. I will be able to include wikis, podcasts, and many other technologies into my room.
All of the forms of technology will keep my students interested and motivated in the classroom. I am glad we were able to learn a variety of forms to use in our classroom.
Thanks!

While I am not an expert, I consider myself pretty savy with computer use. I didn’t know how to set up most of these technologies, but I have used many of them at least once. Some of them I had used for various classes over the years, while others I had stumbled onto.
This class gave me the opportunity to learn more about these technologies that I had limited experience with. It has also given me the chance to learn how to set them up myself. While I now know how to use many of these technologies, I am afraid that with the limited amount of technology available in my school for me to use, I will never get the opportunity to use them with the students.

I learned A LOT! I especially appreciated everyone’s willingness to share and their non-judgmental attitude to those of us less experienced. I’m thankful that I have the rest of this school year to familiarize myself with all the new technology I learned so that I will be more apt to implement some of it into my classroom next year. I think when we’re in the middle of a school year it is very difficult to integrate new ideas, strategies, curricula, etc. because we are just dealing so much with the day to day stuff of teaching. My hat’s off to all of my colleagues who were able to use this new technology in their classrooms this past month. Bravo!

I can honestly say that I am much more comfortable with internet-based technology than I was before. I used the internet to search for information, graphics, websites for my students, etc. However, I can now say that I am not afraid of blogging or setting one up. I appreciated learning about the ways that teachers can safe-guard blog-based discussion. I also appreciated learning about how wikis can be a nice way to share information continually, not just once.
I have not yet used audacity, but I hope to have it installed on my classroom computers so that I can use the program in conjunction with guided reading.
I cannot say that my level of comfort with regards to technology has changed, but my knowledge of what types of technology are available has definitely become broader.
